Where are my files?

Wherever you saved them. JATE never moves or copies your documents.

Is there iCloud sync?

No. JATE is offline by design. Keep your files in iCloud Drive or Dropbox and it will open them like any other file.

Can I get Markdown preview?

No. JATE shows plain text as plain text. Developer mode adds syntax colouring, but never a rendered preview.

A large file opens slowly

Past a few megabytes, syntax colouring switches itself off and the status bar says so. Editing stays responsive; colouring is what gets dropped.

Will it stay free?

Yes.
